Pre-dive workout: the perfect warm-up routine

Site adminThursday, 15 August 20245 views

A warm-up routine designed specifically for divers to prepare the body and mind before each dive.

Warming up before diving reduces injuries, improves performance, and prepares your nervous system for the water environment.

Physical warm-up (10 minutes)

Rib cage stretch
Put your hands on your waist and slowly rotate your torso right and left 10 times to stretch your breathing muscles.

Neck Stretch
Slowly turn your head in all directions to prepare the upper spine for pressure on the head cavity.

Move your ankles
Rotate your ankle in both directions to prepare for a strain-free fin strike.

Respiratory warm-up (5 minutes)

5 slow, deep breaths with long exhalations relieve tension and raise the level of alertness.

Mental warm-up (5 minutes)

Review your dive plan with your partner, check communication cues, and visualize the dive in a positive light.

What to avoid

  • Intense strength training immediately before diving
  • Severe painful stretching of the muscles
  • Quickly warm up and skip some of the steps

Twenty minutes of warm-up makes a diving watch more efficient and less risky.
