About the course

Turn interest in the sea into a real skill, and start recreational diving with structure and safety. PADI Open Water Diver is the first complete level toward an internationally recognised scuba certification. It gives you the knowledge and practical skills to plan and enjoy recreational dives within your training limits, from confined-water sessions through open-water training dives with a certified PADI Instructor. Programme length: 3 to 5 days. You will learn: • Basic diving principles and safe dive planning • Scuba equipment assembly and use • Buoyancy control and comfortable movement underwater • Buddy communication and safety procedures • Calm handling of basic in-water situations • Skills in confined water • Four open-water training dives After you complete the course requirements you receive the PADI Open Water Diver certification, which qualifies you to dive recreationally with a buddy within your training limits, to a maximum of 18 metres for an adult diver. Certification is issued after all knowledge, skill, and performance requirements are met to PADI standards. Requirements, terms and conditions apply. Note: The source file contained two marketing versions of this same course. The 3-to-5-day duration version was used; the conflicting 3–4-day duration was not merged.
