About the course

Move beyond recreational no-stop diving and start PADI TecRec. PADI Tec 40 Diver is the transition into technical diving with a limited decompression obligation. The emphasis is precision, teamwork, discipline, and risk management. Programme length: 5 days. The programme includes seven knowledge development sections, four practical application sessions, four progressive training dives, technical equipment configuration, gas/depth/time/deco planning, an independent decompression cylinder, team awareness, equipment and gas-loss drills, emergency procedures, and organised DSMB ascents. After meeting performance requirements you may, within Tec 40 limits: dive to 40 m; make limited-decompression dives beyond recreational no-stop limits; complete no more than 10 minutes of decompression; use one decompression gas up to 50% oxygen; and use technical equipment as planned. Certification follows all knowledge, practical, and dive requirements to PADI standards. The course does not qualify you for overhead environments or to exceed Tec 40 depth, gas, or decompression limits. Requirements, terms and conditions apply.
