Poisonous fish in reefs: What you know saves you

Site adminSaturday, 7 September 2024104 views

A guide to identifying the most common poisonous fish and how to react when confronted with them.

Injuries always occur due to unintentional touching or stepping.

Stonefish

You sit on the sand and you may not see it.

  • Immerse the affected area in hot water above 45 degrees, which breaks down the toxic protein
  • Do not apply pressure or suck on the wound

  • Walking on marine land in shallow water must always be with water shoes

Preventing sea toxins is not difficult. The golden rule: Don't touch what you don't know.
